Legal Assistant - Litigation - Wigan

We are currently looking for an experienced Legal Assistant / Secretary to work within the Litigation department at our Wigan office. You will be supporting one senior Solicitor.

Main purpose
To provide administrative support to Fee Earner as well as achieving own individual target of 30 minutes per day to increase to 1 hour per day within 12 months.

Key tasks (not an exhaustive list):

  1. Maintain Fee Earner’s diary arranging meetings and appointments. 
  2. Deal with routine client correspondence and queries.
  3. Opening and closing all files
  4. Attend to clients both in person and on the telephone in a manner in keeping with the firm’s standard of client care.
  5. Create and maintain client records on the firm’s database ensuring that all correspondence and file notes are recorded on the system, in accordance with HCB’s and Lexcel’s requirements. 
  6. Produce client correspondence and enclosures for mailing including client bills.
  7. Ensure the confidentiality of the client and firm’s information and documentation  at all times.
  8. Maintain client hard copy files including copying, storage and retrieval of information.
  9. Request payments and record receipts of client monies. 
  10. Arrange searches, reports and any other information as requested by the fee earner.

  • Previous experience working as a Legal Assistant/Secretary 
  • Great communication skills and an ability to work well with others
  • Ability to work under time constraints and prioritise work load
  • Able to handle sensitive matters discreetly
  • Good organisation skills with a methodical approach
  • Self-motivated and proactive
  • Deliver excellent service to clients and colleagues

Location:    Wigan Office
Hours:        Monday to Friday 09.00 – 17.15 with a one hour lunch break
