Head of Residential Property - Midlands

We are currently recruiting for a new Head of Department to manage and develop our Midlands Residential Property Teams.

Summary of role and responsibilities

You will be responsible for the professional lead and supervision of your team and delivery of a professional service by your team to external and internal clients. You will achieve the required operational, financial and client service performance standards as well as fully contributing to the overall successful departmental and firm performance, effective business development and case intake.

Main duties and responsibilities of the role:

Strategy and Leadership

  • Manage and supervise your team
  • Monitor performance in relation to case handling and client demands
  • Manage and monitor budgets, targets and financial performance
  • Actively seek and identify opportunities for growth of your team’s fee earning capacity
  • Provide inspirational leadership to your team including recruitment and supporting your team members as required
  • Work closely with other regional HOD’s to ensure consistency in approach and delivery of service across HCB Solicitors

People Management

  • Carry out supervision and one to one’s with Fee Earners to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of legal services to our clients, as well as providing excellent client service
  • Assist in recruitment processes and interviewing potential candidates
  • Conduct appraisals and set objectives and targets for your team
  • Ensure that your team achieves their agreed performance targets by using consistent and clear leadership in the management of individual performance and targets
  • Lead your team, directly managing fee earners
  • Coach, develop and support fee earners to achieve excellent people leadership practice
  • Work with the HR Team to optimise the recruitment and retention of staff in your team
  • Take on trainees when and where necessary and ensure they receive proper training and supervision
  • Be a role model to your team
  • Previous Team Supervision / Management required

Technical

  • Ensure cases are progressed appropriately and client satisfaction is delivered by your team in a compliant way
  • Be available to advise on high profile cases and complex matters when necessary
  • Identify and close gaps in specific types of work within your team by training, mentoring and supervision
  • Identify changes in law and procedure in your team’s specific areas of work, ensuring all members of your team undertake appropriate training in a timely manner
  • at Least 8 Years PQE experience is required for this role.

Case Handling

  • Ensure monthly file reviews are carried out in accordance with our policy
  • Delegate and supervise tasks to junior team members where appropriate

Details

  • Based at either Redditch or Solihull office
  • Full time role – Monday to Friday, 9am to 5.15 pm
