Laura specialises in Education Law, particularly in relation to SEN matters. Laura has successfully assisted many families through the EHCP process and in the SEND Tribunal to secure additional provision for children and young people within schools, as well as obtaining Local Authority funding for specialist school placements.

Laura’s practice includes assisting families and advising on the following matters;

• Securing an EHC needs assessment
• Appeals against a refusal to make an EHC needs assessment
• Reviewing and making representations on the contents of the Draft EHCP
• Appeals against a refusal to issue an EHCP
• Appeals against the contents of the EHCP

Approach

Laura joined the HCB Education Law team in September 2017 as a Trainee Solicitor and qualified as a Solicitor in 2019. Since qualifying, she has practiced solely in Education Law and is therefore experienced in her field.

Laura understands that the SEN Law system is complex and can be daunting for many families trying to navigate the process. She aims to work closely with individuals and families, providing ‘jargon free’ advice and guidance in an approachable way to ensure they understand the legal process at every stage.

Laura prides herself on her excellent communication and ensuring that clients are updated on all stages of their case. Her aim is to take at least some of the stress out of the process for families and ensure the best outcome is reached for each case as swiftly as possible.
