HCB's Margaret McCormack Appointed District Judge

The Queen has appointed Margaret McCormack, a Director of HCB Solicitors in Manchester, to be a District Judge on the advice of the Lord Chancellor the Right Honourable David Lidington MP and the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable The Lord Burnett of Maldon.

Ms McCormack said “I joined the firm as a Trainee Solicitor in 1993, so it has been a constant throughout my career and personal life. I have been a Director for the last 20 years and I have never felt the desire to work elsewhere. The firm has encouraged my aspirations and have been greatly supportive of my decision to join the Judiciary.”

Mike Gahan, Chief Executive of HCB added: “Margaret has been a great colleague and her contribution to HCB has made her a great asset to the company. The Judiciary’s gain is the HCB family’s loss, but we are extremely proud and happy for her and wish her every success in her new appointment.”

Margaret has been the Training Principal at HCB for many years, a role that she has handed over to her colleague Angela Rainford.

The Lord Chief Justice has deployed Ms McCormack to the Northern Circuit, based at the County Court and Magistrates Court at Doncaster, with effect from 26th February 2018.
