    Education and Qualifications:

    Background and Experience:

    Upon completing her degree in Law at Aberystwyth University and the Legal Practice Course at the University of Law, Stephanie began her legal career in a Cardiff based firm specialising in clinical negligence claims acting on behalf of claimants and their families, helping to maximise the outcome and to prevent such incidents affecting other families.

    Thereafter, Stephanie spent some time with two Local Authorities primarily working within the Child Protection department. Stephanie acted on behalf of the Local Authority whereby decisions were made to act in the best interests of the child to ensure a child or young person was provided with a safe, nurturing and stable family environment to grow and thrive throughout their early years into adulthood. 

    Stephanie joined the HCB Education Law team in April 2023. Since this time Stephanie has assisted families throughout the EHCP process by obtaining EHC Needs assessments and lodging appeals with the Special Educational Needs and Disability Tribunal.

    Stephanie specialises in Education Law, primarily Special Educational Needs. Stephanie is committed to assisting families to secure specialist support by way of Education, Health and Care Plans, Statements of Special Educational Needs and Individual Development Plans.

    Stephanie’s main practice comprises of the following:

    • Securing an Education, Health and Care (EHC) needs assessment;
    • Appeals against a refusal to make an EHC needs assessment;
    • Appeals against a refusal to make an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP);
    • Appeals against the content of Sections B, F and/or I of an EHCP;
    • Securing additional support (including therapy) for children and young people with special educational needs
    • Securing funding for specialist schools for children and young people with special educational needs
    • Appealing against the content of a Statement of Special Educational Needs;
    • Securing an Individual Development Plan (IDP);
    • Appeals against a refusal to make an IDP;
    • Appeals against the content of an IDP;
    • Pre-Action and/or Judicial Review for education issues
