Abby-Lee Rees
Areas of Expertise – Education Law
Abby is a Solicitor in the Education Law Department, primarily dealing with Special Educational Needs/Additional Learning Needs matters. She is committed to supporting young people and children with Special Educational Needs to get the educational support they are entitled to. Abby understands that the process can be difficult for families and aims to combat this where she can by providing a compassionate approach and clear advice to achieve the best possible outcome.
Abby’s main practice comprises of the following:
- Securing an Education, Health and Care (EHC) needs assessment
- Appeals against a refusal to make an EHC needs assessment
- Appeals against a refusal to make an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP)
- Appeals against the content of Sections B, F and/or I of an EHCP
- Securing additional support (including therapy) for children and young people with special educational needs
- Securing funding for specialist schools for children and young people with special educational needs
- Securing more support in Section F (provision) of an EHCP
- Failure to provide education and SEN provision
- Pre Action and/or Judicial Review for education issues
Background and Qualifications:
- Joined HCB in 2023
- Qualified as a Solicitor in 2022
- Civil Litigation experience since 2019
- Graduated in 2018 with a Master’s Degree in Law and Legal Practice, from the University of South Wales
